Route
From Blackwater car park, cross the road and take the path through the wooden arch. Take the path to the right, across a small footbridge, to join the Tall Trees Trail.
For 1km, it winds its way past the majestic tall trees – including the enormous coast redwoods, Douglas firs and two giant sequoia which are the tallest trees in the forest. You’ll soon reach Brock Hill car park.
Go through the car park and join the gravel cycle path just beyond. Turn left and follow the path away from the road as it curves to the left and continues for 1.2km.
At a crossroads, you’ll see New Forest cycle route marker post 244. Turn left and walk the 200m to the edge of Rhinefield Arboretum.
When you go through the gates of the arboretum, spend some time admiring the wide range of tree species from around the world.
Exit the arboretum through the opposite gates and return to Blackwater car park.
Take a moment to walk down towards the Blackwater, close to the car park entrance. The tranquil river with the arched road bridge is one of the most photographed views in the New Forest.
