Puckpits (from Acres Down)

Bagshot Guutter

A short circular walk on gravel tracks from Acres Down car park taking in tranquil woodland and fine forest views.

Starting from the Acres Down car park, follow the gravel cycle path as it heads into Wick Wood.

Continue straight ahead at the first junction after about 500m.

The path gently undulates for another 1km, crossing Bagshot Gutter. Take the second gravel path on your right, heading uphill towards Puckpits Inclosure. The Victorian plantation has some spectacular tall larch trees. It is reputedly known for appearances of New Forest pixies – hence the name inspired by Shakespeare’s Puck.

Follow the gravel path through the inclosure. There is a steep down-and-uphill stretch just after the inclosure boundary before the path gently sweeps downhill for another 1km towards the first junction you passed and the short walk back to the car park.
